The Annapurna region lying in the northwestern region of the Himalayan country Nepal is a land of contrast. The region protected under the Annapurna Conservation Area Project is home to the driest, windiest, and wettest regions in the country. The region was not accessible to outsiders until the 1970s and the Annapurna Circuit Trek trial was opened only in the 1977 AD, thus the large part of the region is still unexploited and has retained its natural beauty in the best form. From Kathmandu, we will drive to the beautiful town of Dahrapani along the banks of the Marshyangdi River. The town is situated in the Lamjung district and offers a beautiful view of Mount Himchuli and Mount Manaslu. The highest elevation point is at 5,416m which is the enthralling Thorong La Pass. From the pass, we will have an amazing view of the whole Annapurna massif and Dhaulagiri range along with satellite peaks like Yak Gawa, Thorungtse, and Gangapurna.
The Annapurna Circuit Trekking route also consists of 2 beautiful Himalayan settlements of Manang and Mustang. These two are also the most popular trekking routes in Nepal as thousands of internal and international tourists flock there every year. Manang is also known as the Lake District as it has some of the most beautiful lakes in the country. Tilicho Lake is the lake at the highest elevation in the world at 4,919m. Here, we will be able to observe the rich culture of the Gurung people which is heavily influenced by Tibetan Buddhism. Mustang district, the land beyond the Himalayans is characterized by contrasts as the region itself is very dry and arid with massive mercury-red cliffs that are guarded by soaring peaks to the south. Here we will trek through the Kali Gandaki Gorge, the deepest in the world and also visit the holy Muktinath temple which lies in the laps of Mount Nilgiri and Dhaulagiri.
The trek will come to end at the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. The city itself is the no.1 tourist destination in Nepal and has many things to offer to visitors. Here we can visit beautiful landmarks, go for boating in beautiful and serene lakes, and indulge in adventure sports like paragliding, zip flying, and canoeing. The best time is in autumn (September to November) and spring (April and May). The months are chosen on the basis of climate and visibility. It is not recommended to trek during the winter as there are good chances of heavy snowfall.
