Mt. Baruntse is the perfect summit above 7,000m for adventure seeking climbers who want to experience climbing in the remote region of Nepal. The summit provides a magnificently rewarding climb and is situated among some of the world’s tallest peaks. At an elevation of 7,129m the peak is situated south of the semi-circle of beautiful mountains including Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, and Nuptse. The Baruntse peak expedition approaches the base camp through the clear and pristine wild environment of the Hinku Valley and the famous Mera La of the remote Makalu Barun valleys of Nepal. Although the expedition comes with certain challenges, this peak is known as relatively easier 7,000m above peak to climb and also has one of the highest success rates of scaling and returning safely. Beginning from the base camp to the western col with its giant glacial plateau, the whole experience will be very inspiring and challenging.
Although the peak is relatively shorter than its neighboring peaks, since it lies in the very heart of the mighty Himalayan peaks, you will have stunning view of the southern face of Lhotse and western face of Makalu. Undertaking the Baruntse expedition includes the usage of various skills required for climbing of any 8,000m above peaks in the Himalayans. The steep sections of ice at 50 degree angle and a very big ice cliff at estimated 7,000m make Baruntse a challenging ascent. The south-eastern ridge of Baruntse demands respect, attention to detail and great expertise to make it a successful ascent.
The itinerary for Baruntse expedition has been made carefully by our experienced team of mountaineers and guides. The itinerary has been made in such a way that ample amount of time for proper acclimatization and sufficient stamina and building of necessary skills for climbing has been allocated. There will also be a specially customized climbing trekking training course at the base camp where all the members of the expedition group can practice and sharpen their skills. The Baruntse base camp will be set at an altitude of 5,300m where our cooks from the expedition group will prepare all meals to take further up. Higher camps will be set at elevations of 6,400m and 6,800m by our team of experienced climbing guides and they will also fix ropes to make the summit push secure and safe.
